The medieval town of Morro D’Oro is built on a hill, to the left of the Vomano Valley, at an altitude of 450 metres. The original fortified village structure is still visible, although it was extended during the 1800s.
The local economy is based on agriculture with surrounding fields of vegetables, fruit and olives.
The 3,618 population has access to food shops, newsagent, post office, banks, microbrewery and bar. There is also a twice weekly market selling local produce and providing an opportunity to mix and talk to the locals.
The town is only 12 kms away from the Adriatic Resort of Roseto degli Abruzzi which provides visitors with a wide sandy beach, shallow waters and all beach side amenities.
