ARSITA - TERAMO PROVINCE
Arsita is a medieval town in the ‘Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park’. It is situated in a panoramic position, 470 metres above sea level, along the River Fino. Its population is 818.
The town’s origins date back to a pre-Roman era, proved by archaeological finds including tombs and jewellery. Later, the Romans, too, settled the area as shown by the discovery of Roman coins, floors and small early Christian statues. There are some historic churches and aristocratic mansions in Arsita worth seeing.
During July and August there are many festivals and activities, for all the family to enjoy and participate in. These include exhibitions, treasure hunts, food festivals, dance parties and nature walks.
The town has a bank, post office, pharmacy, food shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a weekly market.
