Scerni has a population of 3,337 and lies at 281 metres above sea level. It is a lively town, strategically located just a few kilometres from the Adriatic and the Majella mountain range and National Park. The beauty of the surrounding, hilly, landscape is characterised by rows of vines, olive groves and well cultivated expanses of wheat fields. A small lake in the vicinity allows fishing and there are nearby farms where it is possible to go horse riding. The old centre of Scerni dates from medieval times, which can be enjoyed by wandering around the narrow streets and alleys that wind around the castle or Palazzo D’Avolos built in the sixteenth century.
The town has all facilities including a choice of restaurants and bars. There is also a weekly market which sells local produce including the famous Ventricina salami.
