CASALBORDINO - CHIETI PROVINCE
Just a few kilometres away from Vasto and the coast, the village of Casalbordino is situated at 201 metres above sea level, between the rivers of Osento and Sinello. It was founded in the 9th century but there are archaeological signs of an original Roman settlement. The town has many facilities and fascinating narrow streets to explore.
The local economy is mainly based on agriculture and the town is surrounded by orchards, vineyards and olive groves. Tourism, too, is very important with the Lido of Casalbordino just a few minutes away. It offers wonderful beaches, inviting blue waters, restaurants and bars. An interesting event that takes place each August is the Clam Festival with boat parades and competitions.
There are also plenty of other outdoor activities in the area including canoeing, cycling, hiking and bird watching.
