ALANNO - PESCARA PROVINCE
Alanno is a hilltop town which is 307 metres above sea level and dominates the valley of the Pescara River between the Adriatic Sea and Majella Massif. It dates to medieval times and the bastions, together with the three towers of the castle, are still visible. The historic centre is delightful and worth taking the time to enjoy on foot.
Alanno has a population of 3,487 and has many amenities including a bank, post office, supermarket, butcher, baker, bars and restaurants. There is even a weekly market selling local fruit, vegetables, salamis and cheeses.
Further afield is the Nature Reserve of Alanno which is managed by the WWF. It is possible to stroll along the beautiful paths by the River Pescara and view the many species of migratory birds and the interesting river vegetation.
